At 75 years young, Patricia Polly has found a new Passion in life – Fused Glass. Pat has
had several hobbies over her life time to include painting, ceramics, and driftwood
design.
She became very excited when she heard of a business in town that was offering
classes in art glass. She soon found herself immersed in the teachings at the Glass Act
studio and quickly became skilled in the art of stained glass and later, fused glass. From
all the art mediums that she has enjoyed, glass fusing won her heart and imagination.
Always challenged to capture the eternal beauty of her flowers, Pat has gone beyond
the traditional 2-D flat designs of fusing to create her trademark lifelike 3-D glass flower
designs.
One piece can take as many as 4 firings before it is to the correct shape and texture. Complex detailed scenes
are her favorite past time. From the initial idea, to drawing it out, making the pattern, selecting the glass colors,
cutting the glass and finally layering the glass and fusing it, it’s like a new adventure every time.
Her work is sold at Glass Act, festivals and on line by her daughter, Sherrie Venghaus, who is a glass
flameworker. “For anyone who likes glass art, the friendly staff at Glass Act can bring your dreams to life”.
Pat firmly believes that TODAY is the best day to try something NEW!!
