In 2002, while recuperating from breast cancer treatment, I was invited to take a class at
Glass Act. During that first class, I made a cabochon and a key chain. The dichroic
shined so much! It was love at first sight.
Meanwhile, my friend Sherrie Venghaus and I were trying to raise money for the
American Cancer Society. We started to make pink ribbon bracelets, pendants and sun
catchers. Sherrie enrolled in a lamp working class with the goal of making a bead with a
pink ribbon and I took all the fusing classes available at that time at Glass Act.
Since the creativity just kept flowing and since we had some time on our hands, our
inventory grew and consequently, the idea of our own business came to us. “Casa de
Cristal” or House of Glass, was born.
Today, I can’t think of myself without art glass. I have found peace while creating art and I’m able to respond to the
challenges of life more effectively because of it.
I will always be grateful to my friends and mentors at Glass Act and to have found a passion in glass art.
